We’ve all been to a Japanese hibachi restaurant and right before the Teppan-Yaki Chef comes out to give an amazing show, you receive a bowl of clear soup as an appetizer. From the first sip, all the way down to its last, that Japanese Clear Soup is something we all die for. Now there’s no need to make a trip when you can make this delicious soup in the comfort of your own home. Feel free to tweak the recipe to your liking by adding or removing items of your choice.
Ingredients
•sweet onion (large diced)
• cloves garlic (peeled & smashed)
• large carrots (chunks)
• Chicken broth (2 boxes)
• water (2 cups)
• beef broth (2 boxes)
• fresh ginger (Chunks)
• sesame oil
• green onion (Sliced)
• mushrooms (button or shiitake) (Sliced)
•Salt (I used soy sauce)
•Pepper
Directions
1. Heat up a large pot to medium and add sesame oil.
2. Once oil is loose and coated the bottom of pan evenly, add carrots. (Let them brown slightly)
3. As carrots start to brown, add onions, garlic, ginger, & mushrooms.
4. Now that everything has a little color and soften, add beef broth, chicken broth, and water.
5. Add 2-3 tablespoons of sesame oil
6. Add Salt (Soy Sauce as Substitute) and pepper to liking.
7. Let everything simmer for about 45min.
8. After 45min, remove the carrots and onions
9. Add green onions and simmer for additional 15min.
10. Remove pot from heat and Enjoy! 🍽
